Science Saturday is an educational program designed to inspire guests of all ages to explore the natural world and all its wonders through experiments, demonstrations, and other activities.
What is a pterosaur? Come learn about history’s largest flying animal as we compare their modern day counterparts. Learn about the pterosaurs ability to fly and how it compares to modern day fliers like Turtle Bay’s feathered ambassadors. Also, get an up-close encounter with their modern day relatives, the reptiles!
For our second Open Art Studio Saturday program, we are exploring Pointillism! Anyone can join and make a pointillist masterpiece using cotton swabs to paint dot art. Art Studio Saturday is an open studio art program for guests of all ages to explore their creativity and try something new. Whether you want to take a quick art break or relax, get comfortable and make your masterpiece, you can join us in the classroom to get started, all materials included!
Fall is the best time to plant most hardy perennial plants & shrubs in our area. Our Fall Sale focuses on hardy perennial plants including California natives, grasses, many unusual flowering plants, ground covers and shrubs. Free gardening advice will be available throughout the day from Arboretum and Botanical Gardens staff and volunteers. Come early – some plants sell out fast!
