Paint the Town Redding!

History comes alive in Downtown Redding, and not just in museums. We’re relaxed, sure, but the district buzzes with local restaurants and quirky boutiques to explore in and around Market Street. Compact and easily walkable, it’s an oasis of civilization when visitors are pausing their adventures. Friendly locals and lively coffee shops provide a healthy balance to the calm and solitude of nature. Plus, you gotta eat eventually! Overlooking the river, nature’s never far, but with just under 100,000 inhabitants, Redding provides cultural offerings and shopping to give you big city vibes with small town charm.

A Treasure Trove of Local Finds

Find locally-owned shops like Floranthropist. We like our colorful crystals at Juniper Stones Gallery and browsing at indie bookstore Shop Around The Corner Books, while Cascade Curations is your stop for musical finds. Ladies love the boutique clothing at Dandelion, Carousel, and Apricot Lane, while everyone can find something of interest at Gather Downtown. Explore vintage treasures at Rust & Relics and Friday’s Vintage Co.

Dine, Don’t Dash

From the new food trucks of The Park to the historic landmark Jacks, Redding offers up true tastes of Northern California cuisine. A stroll through Downtown Redding makes that clear. Take a break from the watersports and hiking to enjoy a meal at one of our institutions like Vintage Public House or Market Street Blade and Barrel. Restaurants like Taqueria Los Gordos bring a Mexican flare while Cinders Wood Fired Pizza serves up tastes of Italy. International flavors abound but you’ll also find slices of classic Americana at Damburger or more gourmet fare at Taroko.

It’s OK to Be Inside

All the world’s a stage but you’ll find the real shows in Downtown Redding. Riverfront Playhouse showcases local talent while bigger performances like comedy shows and concerts are on the agenda at the nearby Redding Civic Auditorium. The iconic Cascade Theatre has been welcoming visitors since 1935 and is still Redding’s premier stage and film venue. Local museums like the Behrens-Eaton House Museum call Downtown Redding home, so you’re never far from some arts and culture.

Have Another Round

Downtown Redding is the ideal spot to unwind over local drinks and plan your next adventure. Sip craft brews at The Dip or seasonal creations at Final Draft Brewing or Woody’s Brewing Company. Family-run Westside Tap & Cork and The Grape Escape offer wines to enjoy on-site or take home. And don’t miss the Post Office Saloon & Grill, which offers cocktails, wine, beer, and one of the best brunches in town. With so many new additions popping up, downtown Redding provides a world-class wine and dine experience.

Caffeine and Spice and Everything Nice

We welcome you if you don’t drink coffee, but we may have a few questions. For many of us, it’s a way of life. Dutch Bros and Evergreen are just a couple of local coffee joints to get a morning (or afternoon) jolt of caffeine in Downtown Redding. Theory Coffee also makes sure you’re pairing your coffee with the right pastry. If in doubt, a half dozen, or heck, a dozen donuts from Heavenly Donuts will fuel your next outdoor adventure. For a truly discerning sweet tooth, a few scoops at Taste and See Creamery are also requisite, and they even team with Theory for coffee-flavored ice cream to drive home that “only in Redding” flavor.
