Viva Board Game Day 2026 (Free Community Event)

Viva Board Game Day returns Saturday, May 23, 2026 at the IOOF Hall in downtown Redding for a full day of tabletop gaming, community, and free fun for all ages.

Whether you're a longtime hobby gamer, casual player, or completely new to modern board games, there’s a seat at the table.

This free annual event brings together hundreds of games, open play tables, organized tournaments, roleplaying sessions, giveaways, and local gaming partners under one roof in the heart of downtown.

What to expect:
🎲 Open gaming library with hundreds of games available to borrow and play
🏆 Free tournaments featuring Catan, Heat: Pedal to the Metal, and Ticket to Ride
🐉 Dedicated Dungeons & Dragons hall with beginner-friendly 90-minute one-shot sessions hosted by Matrix Cards & Games
🛍️ Used game market for buying, selling, and trading board games
🎁 Partner giveaways and prize drawings throughout the day
🧩 Mini escape experience presented by Extreme Escape Redding
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family-friendly atmosphere with games for all ages
🍺 Cold beverages available on site through Viva Downtown (21+ for alcohol)

Tournament Schedule:
10:15 AM — Catan
1:30 PM — Heat: Pedal to the Metal
4:30 PM — Ticket to Ride

Tournament play is free, with limited seating and prizes sponsored by Asmodee. Giveaways take place throughout the day between tournament rounds.

After the main event ends at 8 PM, attendees 21+ can continue the fun at Bonus Round, where showing your Viva badge unlocks discounted arcade play from 8 PM to midnight.
