The Street Singer “La Périchole” is a swoony, comedic operetta about a quick-witted street performer who finds herself pulled between love, ambition, and a Viceroy who has very bad timing. Composer Jacques Offenbach wrote it to be fun first and fancy second, and that spirit comes through in every scene. Performed in full costume with a live orchestra, it is warm, witty, and completely approachable even if operetta is new territory for you.
