The largest outdoor community breakfast in the United States: the legendary Redding Rodeo Pancake Breakfast

The annual Redding Rodeo Pancake Breakfast draws over 10,000 hungry patrons to downtown Redding to kick off the annual rodeo celebration. This beloved tradition started in 1954 as one of the Rodeo Week activities, serving only 700 pe ople that first year. But it rapidly grew thanks to the dedication of the Asphalt Cowboys organization, which borrowed equipment from the Sheriff's Department, local churches, and residents to fry up pancakes and sausage for the crowds.

As attendance swelled to over 1,000 hungry breakfast-goers, the Asphalt Cowboys invested in more equipment to keep pace - buying up old McDonald's grills and accumulating tables and chairs to one day host over 10,000 people rain or shine on Market Street. Market Street is even closed down to vehicles for the event.
