The Fall of the House of Usher Preview Night
Just in time for Halloween Riverfront Playhouse is proud to announce the opening of The Fall of the House of Usher by Jack Neary and based on the classic novella by suspense master Edgar Allan Poe.
The play follows James Brookfield as he is invited to the home of his childhood friend, Roderick Usher, to “chronicle the evolution of the House of Usher”. What starts out as a pleasant distraction for James quickly turns into a maelstrom of horror as he uncovers the secrets buried within that old house.
Neary’s retelling of this classic gothic horror story employs a 1930’s noir detective style. The audience is transported on a journey of betrayal and secrets through the twists and turns of the character’s narration as told through a series of flashbacks as the members of the household are questioned by hardened Boston homicide detective Michael Shaughnessy. Both the performances and the unique style of storytelling will keep you on the edge of your seat to see what will be revealed around each bend in the story.
Riverfront’s production has John Welsh’s masterful hand at the helm and in the director’s chair. It also features Riverfront stage regulars Ian Dalziel and Sean Sampson as well as the talents of Erin Brennan, Chloe Freeland Davis, Colin Peacock and newcomers Grace Coe, and Forrest Bryant.
The Show opens October 21 with a special $15 preview on October 19 and it runs weekends through November 5.
You won’t want to miss this addition to your entertainment plans for this spooky season! This show is rated PG-13.
