State of the City 2022
With so much to celebrate this year in Redding, the City of Redding and the Redding Chamber of Commerce proudly welcome the community to the 2022 State of the City. The free event will take place in Downtown Redding at Umbrella Alley on Friday, September 23 from 4–5 pm.
City of Redding Mayor Kristen Schreder will deliver the 2022 State of the City speech, “Hope Moves Us Forward”. This year’s theme emphasizes the importance of having diverse, active transportation modes available in the City of Redding. Mayor Schreder encourages everyone to ride, scoot, skate, or walk their way Downtown to join the event! A free Bike Valet, provided by Shasta Living Streets and funded by Redding Electric Utility, will be available from 3–7 pm to provide safe and secure bike storage for those who plan to spend the evening in Downtown Redding. Anyone who uses the bike valet will receive an additional entry ticket in a giveaway for a chance to win one of three prizes from Redding Electric Utility! Redding Chamber of Commerce President & CEO, Jake Mangas will give a brief Chamber update. He will then introduce Todd Jones of the Shasta EDC followed by Danny Orloff of Visit Redding.
The event will feature music and community informational booths. Limited seating is available. This event is FREE and open to the public. With so many great things happening that night in Downtown Redding, biking, walking, scooting, or skateboarding is highly encouraged. Please take advantage of the extended hours at the Bike Valet. It’s a great opportunity to spend more time downtown supporting area businesses. If you plan to drive into the area that night, paid parking is available at the new parking structure at the corner of California and Tehama Street, as well as in the parking lot under Market Center. Please visit our Downtown Parking Page for additional parking options.
Stick around after the State of the City for dinner and drinks at a local downtown business, or get tickets to the Redding Roots Revival Music Festival, which kicks off that night in Downtown Redding, just north of the State of the City location. Here’s to celebrating all of the great things happening in this community together!
