REDDING CULTURAL CRUISE 2024

The annual Redding Cultural Cruise is back to honor Arts, Culture & Creativity Month!

 

Attendees will have the opportunity to admire incredible art, view historical artifacts, listen to fantastic music by local artists, and get a taste of the North State’s vibrant culture and arts scene.

 

The event kicks off at 4 pm on Friday, April 12 with the cultural bus and car tour departing from Redding City Hall, and continues on Saturday, April 13 with the walking/biking tour from 11 am until businesses close.

 

Participating venues include Redding City Hall, Turtle Bay Exploration Park & The Mosaic Restaurant Gallery, Shasta Historical Society, Shasta Arts Council (Old City Hall), The Art Hunger, Viva Downtown, Behrens-Eaton House Museum, Shasta Living Streets, and North Valley Art League.

 

Drive, bike, or walk to all the Cruise stops. Enjoy free admission at Turtle Bay between 5 – 8 pm on Friday night only.

 

Printed Cultural Cruise guides will be available at each location and can also be downloaded and printed from the Shasta County Arts Council’s website.

 

Turtle Bay Exploration Park (Friday Only) will celebrate the “Yosh Sugiyama Retrospective” exhibition with a lecture by guest curators Alice Porembski and Sue Lang at 5:30 pm on Friday the 12th. Other offerings include “Amazing Pollinators” and “Glowing Wild.” From art to local history, Turtle Bay has something for everyone. Delicious refreshments will be served during the lecture, with more available for purchase. On Friday, April 12, between 5 – 8 pm, entry fees will be waived for cruisers. Shasta Historical Society invites you to discover historical artifacts and the many stories that make up the rich tapestry of experiences that shaped Shasta County. They will be featuring the “We Are Not Strangers Here” exhibit. Enjoy free entry, snacks, and drinks. Hours of operation will be Friday 4  -7 pm and Saturday 10 am – 4 pm. The Behrens-Eaton House Museum welcomes all to take a step back in time. Visitors will explore the restored Victorian home of the 1890’s, complete with original family furniture. Costumed docents will greet you and provide a captivating tour of local history. Hours of Operation will be Fri 4-6:30 pm and Sat 11 am – 4 pm. Address: 1520 West St.

 

Shasta Arts Council – Old City Hall will be presenting a group exhibition of North State Artists entitled the “Celebrations of Arts” in their gallery on Friday night. Saturday will feature a ZineFest in the ballroom by Red City ZineFest. Stop by between 11 am – 9 pm on Saturday to see local artists, vendors, and musicians celebrating their crafts in this collective living magazine. Address: 1313 Market St.

 

The Art Hunger will showcase their April gallery. Hours of Operations will be Friday 2-8pm and Saturday 12-6pm. Address: 1504 Market St.

 

Viva Downtown will feature several musical artists upstairs at the IOOF Hall for both cruising days, as part of their First Friday Concert series. Pop in for a stamp and enjoy some great music! Address: 1504 Market St. Upstairs.

 

Redding City Hall (Friday only) features an extensive exhibition of works curated by the North Valley Art League. The exhibit is changed three times per year. The public is welcome to view three floors of art at their leisure during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, excluding holidays. Stop by Friday at 4 pm to help kick off Cultural Cruise 2024! Closed Saturday. Address: 777 Cypress Ave.

 

The Carter House Gallery at Caldwell Park, home of North Valley Art League, will be celebrating the opening of their April Exhibit on Friday from 4 – 7 pm, and Saturday will have normal hours from 11am-4pm. Address: 48 Quartz Hill Rd.

 

Visit Shasta Living Streets and the new Shasta Bike Depot to see photos and history of Redding/Shasta outdoor living and cycling culture from the 1880’s to today. Experience art and design in the Bell Plaza, an adaptive reuse of older downtown buildings. Hours will be Friday 4 – 8 pm and Saturday 11 am – 4 pm. Address: 1322 California St.

 

Riverfront Playhouse (Saturday only) Drop by this iconic Redding Theatre to learn about upcoming shows and more! Sat 11 am – 4 pm. 1950 California St.
