On Golden Pond Preview Night at Riverfront Playhouse
On Golden Pond is the heartwarming and classic story of the bonds of family and the way that love can build bridges stronger than the differences that divide us. “On Golden Pond speaks the the universal themes of love, family, forgiveness, aging, and mortality.” says co-director and Riverfront Board President Ronda Alvey. Riverfront Playhouse’s production features veteran actors John Welsh as Norman, Cindy Robertson as Ethel, Emory Hornaday as Chelsea, and Ian Dalziel as Bill. It will also feature newcomers to the Riverfront Stage Lanson Zaniroli as Billy and Nathan Miller as Charlie. The production is being directed by Ronda Alvey and Marla O’brien. Most recently Marla directed Crossing Delancey and Steel Magnolias for Riverfront.
Riverfront Playhouse will be presenting the second revision that Ernest Thompson has made to his original script. In the forward for this version he writes, “While the play, like any work of art, is about many things, what I thought I was writing as a young man was a study in dysfunction, one family’s struggles with what we all struggle with – age, rage, regret, love withheld, love unspoken, disappointment and ultimately – if we’re lucky – forgiveness, acceptance, and renewal.
You will not want to miss this beautiful story skillfully brought to life by talented actors under the experienced direction of Ronda and Marla. This is definitely going to be a production that will move you to tears of both beauty and laughter. Get your tickets before they are gone!
