Riverfront Playhouse is extremely proud to have been chosen as the producing theater for the premier performance of three completely original one act plays by Howard R Patterson of Crescent City.

The one act plays presented by Riverfront Playhouse in partnership with Susan Daugherty and Howard R Patterson explore the complexities of human relationships. The characters in each of the plays all come from different walks of life and the circumstances in which they find themselves are incredibly diverse yet these “slice of life” vignettes show us how connected we all really are.

When asked why he chose to tell these stories at this time playwright Howard R Patterson said, “I was mid-play when the Covid pandemic hit. Theater had to shut down and entertainment came to a screeching halt. I was going a little stir crazy, so I decided to sit down and try my hand at writing and found I liked it. These three one acts are the result of the pandemic and a creative urge that had to be fed.”

All that was needed was a venue and Riverfront Playhouse answered that call. Producing partner Susan Daugherty said, “There are no connections tighter in my life than those formed at Riverfront Playhouse. When I left Redding twelve years ago for Crescent City, a new Riverfront Playhouse was still a dream. When my Crescent City acting partner, Howard Patterson, wrote three short plays during the pandemic, I thought it would be fitting to come experience the new Playhouse. Fundraising is always a necessity in community theater and these shows are a way of giving back to a place that so enriched my life.”

The show features talent from both Crescent City and Redding and runs for just two weekends so get your tickets early. Shows are Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 on April 1, 2, 8 &9 with Saturday matinees at 2:00 on April 2 & 9.
