ART & SOUL: YOUR GUIDE TO ART MUSEUMS IN REDDING

Looking to feed your creative side in Redding? While we’re famous for outdoor adventures, our art scene is equally worth exploring.
From historic houses turned galleries to unexpected pop-up shows, here’s where to get your art fix in Redding.
Where to Find Art in Redding, California

Carter House Gallery: Where History Meets Art
Right on the banks of the Sacramento River in Caldwell Park, you’ll find the Carter House Gallery – home to the North Valley Art League. What started with eight local artists in 1979 has grown into a creative community of over 250 members.
Pop in any time to see what’s new (they switch up the exhibits monthly), or browse the gift shop for one-of-a-kind finds made by local artists. We’re talking everything from handmade jewelry to ceramics and painted silk pieces. Want to try your hand at creating art? They offer classes and workshops all year long.

The Art Hunger: Not Your Average Art Gallery
The Art Hunger at IOOF Hall is shaking things up in Redding’s art world. Instead of waiting for art to come to them, they’re taking it everywhere – turning unexpected spaces into pop-up galleries. Check out their rotating mini murals on the building’s north wall to see what we mean. It’s proof that Redding’s art scene isn’t just alive – it’s kicking.

Old City Hall: More Than Just a Pretty Face
Sure, Old City Hall is gorgeous from the outside, but step inside and you’ll find yourself in one of Redding’s most dynamic art spaces. Run by the Shasta County Arts Council, this spot hosts everything from professional artists to up-and-comers. Best part? It’s free to visit Tuesday through Saturday. And why not check out their second-floor vintage ballroom while you’re there?

City Hall: Redding’s Largest Gallery Space
Here’s something most locals may not be aware of: Redding’s City Hall doubles as our biggest art gallery. No joke—we’re talking three stories of art space with over 500 feet of gallery rails. Who knew getting a building permit could turn into an art walk?

An Artistic Exploration: Turtle Bay Museum
You might know Turtle Bay for its famous Sundial Bridge or stunning botanical gardens, but don’t miss the Museum’s exhibition hall. This isn’t your typical gallery space – it’s where art mingles with science, history, and nature.
With specially designed lighting and climate control, the gallery hosts traveling exhibitions from around the world. Even the building itself is a work of art, with floor-to-ceiling windows that blend the indoors with the river views outside. Grab a coffee from Branch House Riverfront Bistro after your art walk – the patio view of the Sacramento River is a masterpiece of its own.
