The centerpiece of this popular state park is 129-foot Burney Falls, which is not the highest or largest waterfall in the state, but possibly the most beautiful. The waterfall, which is fed by underground springs and flows at 100 million gallons every day, can be enjoyed from the top at the lookout point. But for a more refreshing experience, take the trail to the pool at the base of the falls and along the stream. You can even walk along a portion of the Pacific Crest Trail here! A boat ramp is available at nearby Lake Britton, and there are five miles of hiking trails winding through the park's evergreen forests. Burney Falls is named after pioneer settler Samuel Burney who lived in the area in the 1850s.
