Subway Cave
Subway Cave is an unusually easy lava tube to explore, at 1,300 feet (1/3 mile) long, and with ample headroom and a rubble-free floor. The U.S. Forest Service has installed concrete stairs, a trail from the parking lot, and interpretive signs explaining the origins of the cave. This is the largest accessible tube in this flow, and temperatures remain at about 46F year-round. Be sure to take a light jacket and a flashlight. More Information

Sundial Bridge
Designed by Santiago Calatrava, the Sundial Bridge is an architectural marvel! The glass decked, cable-stayed cantilever suspension bridge reaches 217 feet into the sky, spans 710 feet across the Sacramento River, and forms a working sundial. As an environmentally-conscious structure, Sundial Bridge was intentionally constructed without river footings to leave the salmon-spawning habitat undisturbed. While world-renowned and environmentally sensitive, Sundial Bridge also inspires onlookers with it's bird in flight design, symbolizing overcoming adversity. Since its grand opening on July 4, 2004,… More Information

William B. Ide Adobe State Historic Park
William B. Ide wrote the proclamation that established the short-lived California Bear Republic in 1846. It lasted 22 days. Ide recognized the opportunities available to him in the West and as a surveyor, miner, treasurer, district attorney, deputy clerk, and judge, provided support and leadership to this northern part of California. While the park memorializes Ide's role in early California history, recent research has shown he never owned the property. Like William B. Ide, pioneer settlers at Adobe Ranch arrived… More Information
