The African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church was built in 1894 at 1090 California St. in Redding and used by the black community until 1946. Then the church was sold to the Foursquare Gospel Church. The building still stands at the corner of California and Trinity streets, and may be the only existing 19th-century A.M.E. church structure in the state.
